No-Material-Cost Courses with OER | Chadron State College | Chadron, Nebraska | 2014
Process Designer. This course development process evolved to produce a an undergraduate program that would have no-material cost courses. The process engages students and librarians to find and vet open-education resources that faculty integrate into courses with the assistance of an instructional designer and learning management specialist. A presentation on the process received an Idea Lab Award at the New Media Consortium annual conference and was written up in the inaugural publication of the Horizon Report, 2014 Library Edition.

Organizer & Participant. Analyst & Writer. The 1-month study, involving an IT specialist (C. Giger) and a site visit, resulted in a recommendations document: Library Reboot: A Feasibility Study.

Program Review for Bachelor of Arts in English | Ashford University | San Diego, California | 1/17/13
Analyst & Writer. The study analyzes the BA in English over five years; it reviews enrollment, instructional quality,  student success, and program viability/sustainability. Research was conducted from 11/2011 through 1/2013. The self-study report was selected for presentation as part of the institution’s successful reapplication for WASC accreditation.

Grant Writer & Organizer. Proposed  STEM awareness campaign that uses aviation to teach and illustrate concepts in K-12 disciplines such as science and mathematics. Its principal goal was to galvanize student participation and interest through a combination of online lessons, experiential activities, multimedia reporting, assessments and feedback. Its secondary goal was to engage aviators as education activists, to tap their enthusiasm for flying and to cultivate relationships between young people and the young-at-heart in ways that are both useful and fun.

Project Manager & Designer. Developed podcast production and post-production space adjacent to the Office of Instructional Technology. The room and computer was equipped for media development of every stripe. Peripheries included a high-end WACOM tablet, scanner, web cam, headset, and stand-alone microphone; software included all Adobe Creative Suite applications, Captivate, Camtasia, Soundforge, Vegas Movie Studio, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and a wide assortment of open-source applications, including KompoZer, Audacity, GIMP, and CamStudio.
